Submission Guidelines
I am a cartoonist representative. My only interests are niche comic strips and panels available for online syndication. Please read the following FAQ for more information.
1. What is a "niche cartoon"?
1A. A niche cartoon is a comic strip or panel that is targeted towards a specific audience. See the cartoons listed on this website for examples.
2. Will I need to produce a comic strip everyday?
2A. No. The comic strips are syndicated as weeklies. 26 comic strips would fullfill a six month contract.
3. How many samples should I send you?
3A. Send me a link to an online archive. I would need to see at least 26 samples. If accepted, I would need six samples to reside on this website for potential clients to view.
4. Should the comic strips or panels be in color?
4A. Color is preferred, but black and white is acceptable.
5. Is there a contract involved?
5A. Yes. We would sign an agreement for a duration of at least 6 months.
6. Can I sell the comic strip or panel to potential clients at the same time as you do?
6A. No. I would be the exclusive representative for that particular feature for the duration of the contract.
7. How does payment work?
7A. I receive a 25% commission on all sales and renewals of sales during our contract.
8. To whom do you sell the comic strips or panels?
8A. I focus mainly on websites and trade magazines.
9. Do I retain copyright of my work?
9A. Yes.
10. What rights do you sell?
10A. I sell non-exclusive, one-time rights.
11. Who handles payment?
11A. I do for the length of the contract. I receive payment from the client and forward you the money minus the commission and any bank fees. (ie; PayPal fees, wire transfer fees, etc.)
12. Who handles distribution?
12A. I do for the length of the contract. You would send me the comic strips at a specified resolution and pixel width and I send it to the client.
13. What if the comic strip has been published before?
13A. Please indicate where it has been published. All submissions are reviewed on an individual basis.
14. I have a rough idea of a cartoon, but I'm not sure if you would sell it. Can we discuss it first?
14A. Yes. You can email me.
15. I currently give away my comic strip for free on the internet. Is that okay?
15A. No. I would not accept a submission of that comic strip.
16. I have all of the comic strips on an archive for the public to view for free. Can I leave it up during the contract?
16A. No. You can have merchandise and spot illustrations, but during the length of the contract you can not have the comic strips residing on your website for the general public.
17. Can I put my website address on the comic strip.
17A. Yes.
18. I have a music comic strip but you already syndicate a music comic strip. Would you accept another one?
18A. If your comic strip is focused on a completely different aspect of music, for instance punk rock music, yes, I would consider it. However, if it would cause any kind of overlap with an existing syndicated comic strip I would refuse it.
Please send all submission enquiries to this email address. Please note: I have the right to refuse any submission.
Thank you,
